These children have special needs and have many challenges to overcome. They are also performing below grade level. Many of these students have sensory processing difficulties which make it difficult for them to engage and focus on their day-to-day activities. Having access to these items(art supply center, play dough, Magna-Tiles, etc.) will provide children with the sensory input they need to help increase focus and concentration to be more involved in daily activities. They will also allow students to experience sensory stimulations without feeling overwhelmed; and to develop functional skills, like handwriting and self-care skills like feeding and dressing.
