The coordinate plane manipulatives will be used to help students with significant cognitive and developmental disabilities achieve the below NVACS Connector standards: Mathematics NVACS Connectors: HSA.CED.A.1 Solve problems using linear equations and linear inequalities HSA.CED.A.2 Identify a graph representing a given linear relationship There is significant research that shows students with significant disabilities learn academic and other concepts better when provided hands-on learning opportunities. We currently use the Attainment Company's evidence-based Algebra curriculum which provides one plastic coordinate plane per set. I need more plastic coordinate planes to ensure all students can access the Algebraic content I am teaching. This will help them meet standards and achieve Nevada's new and more rigorous Alternative Diploma which is specifically for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This will give my students the opportunity to learn in a hands-on way that they desperately need, especially since these opportunities were denied to them during COVID. The washing machine will be used to help students with significant cognitive and developmental disabilities achieve the below NVACS Connector standards: Heath NVACS Connector 7.SM.HS.1 Demonstrate a variety of age-appropriate behaviors that will maintain or improve the health of one’s self and others Our program has a life skills learning laboratory that is set up like a studio apartment with a kitchen, laundry, and other life skills stations. We are revamping the space this year and updating appliances and modernizing and differentiating the instructional tools and equipment to make the space accessible to all students. Students with significant disabilities need to learn healthy and hygienic life skills practices such as keeping clothes, linens, and other home-based textiles clean. The washing machine will provide hands-on learning lessons the students missed while not at school during the COVID pandemic.
