I am trying to create a setting in my classroom that allows students to choose how they wish to work with their groups, or partners, during independent work time. Currently, I am only able to give them clipboards to hold their work, other than their tables. Getting a standing desk, laptop tables and bean bags will give students more of a choice as to how they would like to engage in their work with partners. Having that choice will help to create an environment where they can focus more on classwork. In the past when I have used flexible seating students are so much more focused on their tasks completing them much quicker then when they are seated at their table groups. Allowing them to choose a way to work on assignments gives them some control within their environment that they normal don't get.
