The students in my classes require extra time and support for their content classes and need a quiet and safe environment to be successful. Sometimes the noise level could increase from students working together on schoolwork, the teacher and adult support working with students, and from students with behavioral outbursts. Noise canceling earphones will allow students to focus on their schoolwork without being interrupted, and they could listen to music for relaxation as they are productively working. Calculators are another needed resource for this class. Many of the students struggle with computation and a calculator will assist them with the multi steps required in high school level math classes without the distraction of using their phones. After Covid-19, most students are returning to school with more stress and anxiety. Coloring books and a variety of markers and pencils will help give students time to decompress when they finish their schoolwork or are feeling anxious. A variety of fidget toys and stress balls will help students to focus on their school work and reduce the stress and anxiousness at the same time. This will also helps those with ADHD to focus on their school work. A variety of books for teens will be available for students to enjoy when they are caught up on their schoolwork which helps with social emotional needs and promotes literacy. Composition notebooks will be used for journaling which promotes social emotional learning. The notebooks will also be offered for their classes for students in need. The products selected for this project will benefit the special population that I work with and help these students to be successful at school.
