Thank you for considering donating to our project for speech and language therapy students here at TGS! My philosophy on speech and therapy is that it should not only be functional but also fun! These supplies are going to help us add some more fun to our therapy and RTI sessions here at TGS. The item I'm most excited about and think my students will be too is the spinning prize wheel! I will use this for helping students pick their reward for participation but also for therapy tasks. Some examples of how we will use it for language lessons would be: selecting the rhyming word we will make rhymes with, identifying how many rhyming words they will be challenged to produce, naming a rhyming word within a given rhyme family, picking a word they will chop into sounds or syllables, etc. Some examples of how we will use it for students working on their speech would be: selecting the target word we will work on and make sentences with, selecting how many times we have to practice each word/sentence, etc. The possibilities are endless! The answer buzzers are going to be another huge hit in my room! I see us using these for students to tap the buzzer to indicate when they are ready to answer a question, such as a reading comprehension question after we go over a story. I also see us using these for students to tap the buzzer when they are stuck on a problem or word (when reading) and need help to get my attention from their seat. With these and the other resources I am requesting, therapy and RTI are going to be a lot more fun and interactive!
