Our internal research has shown a gap in students' ability to respond to specific writing topics with clarity, purpose, and persuasion. SL.5.4, W.5.1 When students learn to develop a response with a point of view, citing pertinent information, they will find bigger success in ELA, science, and mathematics. Many of the writing responses we use come from Time For Kids, Learning A-Z, and Scholastic News. The iPad provides options for modeling oral reading, student responses through touch and type, as well as peer editing through shared drives. These tasks are the focus of our initiatives to drive student success and regain losses felt in the last year and a half.
