We have the wonderful tradition at CMS to have students learn about Veterans in time for a Veterans Day celebration. The students interview and research a Veteran and create a poster about the person. Some students choose Veterans that they personally know (parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.), while others choose famous Veterans (former presidents, etc.). As part of our Veterans Day celebration, we laminate all the students' posters and display them in front of our school. The lamination is necessary to give the posters longevity and make them weather proof. The posters thus make a beautiful display in front of our school. This project helps us address the following Social Studies standard: SS.6-8.WGGS.13.
