In the World History classes that I teach, including my Advanced Placement Modern World History class, there are activities and simulations that students can engage in that allow them to make decisions about the historical situation before them. For example, as we study the Silk, Sand and Sea Roads, students are faced with decisions regarding which route to take, products to purchase and how to deal with challenges that develop along the way. With the iPad, students could pass the iPad from student to student while they are at their desks making these decisions and then learning at the end if their journey was financially profitable or a loss. Also, this technology will allow me to move around the classroom as I teach verses being tied to my computer in the front corner of the room.
