So much of middle school involves navigating self-identity in relationship to both adults and peers. In addition, bodies change along with brain chemicals at the second most accelerated brain growth period of life. That's why it's so important for girls to have a solid social emotional foundation and deep understanding of their own personal values/beliefs. We know that these values will change and be challenged during this developmental stage. In the midst of adjusting to middle school, we often forget to care for students well-being and for girls entering middle school learning self-care is not just a day-to-day routine, it is an act of survival.
