Thank you so much for your interest in this project! The goal is to improve and modernize the quality of texts that my students have access to in the classroom. Adding these books to our classroom library will not only allow my students to have more options to read but will also serve to increase the level of diversity of the books that are available to them. So many of my students are avid readers and I want to foster that in them as much as possible. In addition to supplying students with more options to choose from, I also want to help broaden their knowledge of the world and their empathy for others. In order to achieve this goal I have intentionally selected texts that contain a range of cultural representation and perspectives. By providing students access to these new books, my hope is to help them improve not only their reading ability, but their understanding of the world they live in as well.
