Incorporating SEL books into the curriculum indirectly and directly benefits the NACS. As a counselor, my lens is through the ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors, and bibliotherapy ties in the many Nevada Academic standards and the ASCA mindsets. Engaging critically with texts is important for all students' growth academically, behaviorally, and social-emotionally. I incorporate all ES Health standards as well throughout my classroom curriculum lessons and always include writing activities to accompany our bibliotherapy. COVID hindered my students ability to learn problem-solving skills, engaging effectively with peers, and also hurt them academically. The main items included in this project will help our school's Counseling Program tremendously and allow me to support our students more effectively and specifically, as these books, games, and activities will exponentially grow my resources!
