Having the tools in class to let kids explore and engage in their learning is essential for success! Products like scissors, pencils, composition books, and pencil sharpeners ensure all my students are able to express their learning in a unique and meaningful way. Part of reaching our learning goals is the joy of sharing what we have learned with others. Our class loves to use multiple art supplies, such as pens, crayons, colored pencils, and a variety of papers to create visual representations of our learning. We use sheet protectors to store our past work in portfolios after displaying it with tape. For example, when learning about the characteristics of microbats and megabats, students use art supplies to draw the differences and similarities between the two types. Items like sticky notes are great for labeling those characteristics or jotting down quick notes while reading. Another great use for our supplies is using whiteboards and markers to quickly draw math strategies for solving addition, subtraction, and word problems. Holding up their whiteboards helps me quickly evaluate a student's understanding of the concept. One benefit of showing what we know is rewarding our hard work. Items such as fun erasers, smelly pencils, and candy in our organized clear prize box make the work even more exciting and fun! Finally, when the fun and learning are all done, Lysol wipes help us keep our space clean and germ-free!
