The last few years have had a great impact on student learning, and this year, I have seen some of the lowest math scores ever at this grade level. All of the materials chosen will be used in the classroom in order for all students to gain the appropriate skills. These materials will help bridge the gap for students by bringing these concepts to life with hands-on activities, real-life games, and resources that make learning fun again. For example, the magna-tiles will be used in my volume and area unit where students will be able to build actual structures to determine capacity. Moreover, the primary source documents and social studies games will bring the history to life through role-play. It is my hope that having hands-on materials will boost my instruction to help student engagement and enhance their subject based knowledge.
