Providing these novels to my students means that they will each get their own copy of the shared stories we read. This will allow them to really work with the text, rather than remember what was read aloud. They can use the books to dive deep into text evidence, quoting the text, and recalling key details. This would be especially helpful for my students with IEP's, enabling them to refer back to the book as a means of support. I believe this will help them strengthen their overall comprehension skills.
