Our school is a safe haven for many of our students. We pride ourselves on creating innovative learning experiences by creating simulated work-based learning labs linked to student interests and their core studies. Mathematics particularly is a subject that students love, especially when they see how it could be utilized in the real world. This year we are taking on the challenge of linking ice cream making to our math units. We aim to take away the mundane experience that is usually associated with math and have students engage with following a recipe, creating delicious ice cream, and learning basic entrepreneurship skills. These ice cream machines will give students hands-on experience while pairing their daily lessons on ice cream with something tangible. This experiential part of the learning experience will foster creativity and engagement in a meaningful way with an activity that will spark their interests.
