I appreciate it more than I can even explain. I wasn't sure how this process worked, but I was hopeful and I'm so glad I took the chance because now my students have all of these materials to support them every single day.\r\n\r\n Since this is my second year teaching in a 6:1:1 special, I learned that my students will not only be working on academics, but also building the life skills they need to be independent. Since receiving these materials, we've already started using them throughout our day. During our stations, students are using the glue, scissors, and hands-on materials to actively participate in lessons, and the storage bins have helped us stay organized so they can independently access what they need. The Play-Doh, Model Magic, and sensory tools have been a huge hit, not only with my students but with other classes that need things too. This has given them a way to learn through play while also strengthening fine motor skills and staying regulated.\r\n\r\n What means the most to me is how these items support my students beyond academics. We've been incorporating the hygiene items like deodorant, wipes, and soap into our daily routines so students can practice taking care of themselves, which are skills that are so important for their independence. The new seating and sensory toys have also created a calmer, more supportive environment where students can find different ways to self regulate and are then able to refocus and continue learning. Even having snacks available has made a difference, because my students have something they want to work\r\n\r\n As we continue on with the year, these materials will continue to be part of everything we do, from academic work to daily living skills. Because of your support, my students are not only learning, but they are building independence, and enjoy the classroom they are in, which means everything to me.\r\n\r\n Thank you again for supporting my classroom and believing in my vision for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1766052758031,"projectUrl":"project/beanbags-and-beyond/9637543/","projectTitle":"Beanbags And Beyond","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Melissa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10212986_orig.png?crop=776,776,x104,y83&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755791367945","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10212986"},{"teacherId":5784855,"projectId":9156767,"letterContent":"When the new materials arrived, my students were over the moon with excitement. The moment we opened the boxes and they saw the colorful vinyl rolls, sublimation paper, and new tools, their eyes lit up. They immediately started brainstorming ideas — T-shirts with their favorite sayings, mugs for family members, and designs that show pride in their school. It was inspiring to see how eager they were to create and how these materials instantly sparked their imagination and confidence.\r\n\r\nSince then, our Design Lab has been filled with energy and creativity. Students have been learning how to design digitally, print, weed, and press their artwork onto shirts, mugs, and tote bags. Every project gives them a hands-on way to build life and job skills — from following multi-step directions to taking pride in quality work. One of their favorite projects so far has been making school swag shirts that encourage school pride throughout our school.\r\n\r\nOur next step is simple but exciting: to start making as many things as possible! My students are ready to dive into full production — experimenting with colors, designs, and materials to see what they can create. They want to fill our classroom (and the school!) with their artwork and share what they've made with others. Thanks to your generosity, they now have the tools and confidence to turn their ideas into something real.","fullyFundedDate":1741798599806,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-creativity-with-cricut-empowe/9156767/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Creativity with Cricut: Empowering Students Through Hands-On Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. J. The students eagerly welcomed the generously donated resources. During a whole class discussion, students were introduced the resources and the purpose of each item. The lesson on hygiene for success emphasized what the students already knew but sometimes neglected. More importantly, the project put the resources into the hands of the students. In turn, they were able to personally apply the information for success in the workplace.\r\nWhen the students walked into the classroom and saw the donated items, they were filled with curiosity and enthusiasm. They were eager to learn more and were absorbed in the lesson. The project had a positive impact on the students' thinking and behavior. They are using the resources the way it was intended. They have become more conscious of their overall appearance and hygiene. \r\nThanks to your contributions, my students are one step closer to finding success in the workplace. My next step is to increase the rigor at which they can find further success as they prepare for life in the real world. I am constantly looking for opportunities to improve the educational, emotional, and physical well-being of my students. With your continued support, I am confident that future projects towards their educational and physical growth will be achieved.","fullyFundedDate":1735694381044,"projectUrl":"project/learning-hygiene-for-success-and-self-es/8770568/","projectTitle":"Learning Hygiene for Success and Self-esteem","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hackett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9487276"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127448","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":28,"percentWhite":48,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"US Census Data for the surrounding geographic area","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"Census ZCTA","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":78.8,"schoolId":127448,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 373K Brooklyn Transition Center@ GOTHAM on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 373K Brooklyn Transition Center@ GOTHAM","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/district-75-city-wide-programs/ps-373k-brooklyn-transition-center-gotham/127448"}
