All students should be given access to basic life skills in order to successfully navigate life. This year and for years to come, I would like to help students explore life-long skills they will need for the rest of their lives. I would like to launch a program called Life Skill Fridays. This is a program that I am passionate about and feel students at my Title I school deserve. Many of my students won't have the opportunity or means to be taught these skills. This program will help me, educators, and community professionals to pour all the skills and knowledge we have acquired throughout the years into students. One example of how the materials will be used in class is the lesson about healthy living. Students will learn about good choices and bad choices regarding food. They will also participate in a hands-on lesson about smoothie making and food pairing. Students will make smoothies in the classroom using the blender and then enjoy them together while also completing an assignment about healthy food options. This is just one of the ways the materials will be used in the classroom. Students will learn basic skills such as cooking, sewing, gardening, financial literacy, mental health, community service, citizenship skills, and much more. I believe with your help we will produce many well-rounded, prepared citizens of the world.
