At my school, the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades are in the middle school. This is the first time the fifth and sixth grade students will be in the middle school setting and back in school full-time. A lot of my students have been virtual and consistently ask if we can get flexible seating for our classroom. Due to being in a middle school setting, our classroom doesn't have much room for a carpet or chairs/couches. Instead of sitting on a regular plastic blue chair, they have requested flexible seating that can adjust and wheel around. They have also mentioned seating in the back of the room so they can read and work silently in homerooms. I believe that flexible seating can change a classroom environment for the better, especially with my students that struggle with low focus or special needs. I want to provide my students with a classroom full of differentiation and give them the best opportunities to learn. Flexible seating is just one way that I can improve my classroom for the better, and I look forward to the day I can provide that for them.
