These supplies will help me teach my 600 students literacy and computer skills in the library. A color printer will allow me to make copies for my students that will be used during class time. The National Library Standards will be taught as well as media science standards to help prepare students for their future.
Nevada Content Standards are taught through the library standards. The document camera will be used to display work on the Smartboard, making it easier for the students who are in the back of the room to see more clearly and help provide scaffolding and making directions more visual. The colored pencils and crayons will be used to complete assignments. They are in a plastic covering, making it easier to sanitize for my students if there is an outbreak. They remain the same size for my younger students who are learning to write and they stay sharp for my older students needing the precision to complete their assignments. The bookends will be used to hold up books in the library. The students check out books often, some students daily. With many books being checked out there are not enough books on the shelf to keep them from falling over. It is easier for students to see the books if they are standing up.
This year, with so many struggling students and supply shortages due to Covid-19, teaching has been extra challenging. Many students need more access to supplies to be able to be successful in the primary grades. They are laying the groundwork for their future as learners.
