There are two main focuses for the requested items. Most are basic needs that we are often missing. My program is currently out of paper entirely, and it's only a few months into school. We are often missing other essentials, such as white board markers and erasers and folders. Our classrooms are small and our students are often overlooked due to their high needs status. We have many needs that fall by the wayside. Because of the trauma that our students have suffered, they have missed much of the foundational knowledge and skills that they need to be successful in school. The second half of my requested items are skill-building tools to help our students practice and learn letters, numbers, and handwriting, which are often frustrating pieces of missed knowledge. Our students often have to return to the beginning in acquiring knowledge, and they need tools to help shore up the learning they've missed due to high absenteeism or behavioral issues.
