During the 2020 - 2021 school year, many of my students experienced some learning loss due to impacts of school closures and switching to distance learning. The books that I am requesting will help my students catch up academically in reading. I plan to use these books as novel studies and they will address all of the Reading Literature Standards. For example, the units will specifically address standard RL.3.1 where students will ask and answer questions to demonstrate their understanding of the text. The novel units will also address standard RL.3.3 where students will describe characters in a story and explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events.
