With this project, students will continue to perfect 7th grade ELA standards, most of them without even realizing it. The students will have more chances to build rapport with their classmates, and hopefully strength and trust in their own opinions and abilities. Specific to the content focus of our department this year, this project will largely fulfill ELA L.7.1, L.7.4, and SL.7.1. standards. Students will be asked to share about their own decorations and creative writing surrounding the project. With these presentations, students will also actively listen to stories of their peers. By far most importantly, I hope to foster a sense of "home away from home" in our classroom. I'm hopeful that this will be one more example to my students that they are in the best possible place to try out new skills, however the results turn out! Thank you so much for affording us (literally!) the opportunity to seek new avenues of instruction.
