SS9-12.US.11 - Apply a range of deliberative and democratic strategies and procedures to make decisions and take action regarding contemporary issues at the local, regional, and global level. I would tie this into a theme of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. I would have the students make Protest Art representing actions that need to be taken for civil liberties from the past or present. US History and US Government Content Theme (Standard) SS.9-12.US.14 - Evaluate the impact of individuals and reform movements on the struggle for greater civil rights and liberties. These standards will better be met by giving my students the opportunity to learn through arts integration to obtain mastery of the standards mentioned above. The impact of COVID-19 made it more of a challenge for students to be successful in school due to lapse in education and lack of motivation, by connecting arts to learning students are more engaged and active.
