COVID changed things for many of us, but from what I’ve seen in my students, I’m concerned. I want to create a counseling program that addresses and helps their needs. Helping them adapt to being around people again other than their families, helping them get into positive study habits, helping them get back to them. Students need to feel safe physically and emotionally. And for many of the students I meet with, the constant change and craze of what the last year and half of being out of school did to them is hard to recover from. But they can do it! I selected calming items and mindful items that fit into the ASCA behavior standards B-SMS 10 and NV school counselor ASCA mindset standards M.1. The foot rest and chair are part of the calming practice. They will be use with groups and meditation in our Reset Room designed for student to regroup when they're having a hard time.
