During the pandemic it was so difficult to meet each of the students' needs. It is hard to provide manipulatives or math tools digitally. Being back in person allows for us to tackle the most important pieces that are missing for the fundamental foundations that they need to be successful. In learning and solving math it is also essential to have strong learning skills like RI 6.1A where the students are able to cite evidence. Knowing and solving functional reading and math problems helps the students to be more self sufficient and builds the self confidence that is so important and vital to a students mental, emotional and spiritual health. We can solve many problems but the connections that are made in person are the ones that help the students to have the courage and confidence to try no matter what. To ask for help. Many of my students struggle with ADHD and anxiety. By providing fidget toys this will help them to remain focused and calm themselves to take advantage of the lessons.
