I am requesting a laptop computer with a touchscreen in order to be able to more effectively teach both my online and in-person students. On any given day, I have at least 3-5 students per class that are at-home as virtual students. This makes for a very difficult teaching experience as I try to meet their needs, while at the same time try to meet the needs of my in-person students. This laptop will allow me the freedom to be able to move around my classroom and help my in-person students in more one-on-one and small group settings, while at the same time allow my virtual students to both interact and participate fully in the lessons and activities we are doing in class. My current classroom technology forces me to sit at my desk in order to run my virtual classroom, which does not benefit my in-person students and severely limits the interaction my virtual students can have with the rest of the class. This laptop will be a great benefit to myself, my students, and my ability to effectively teach math in a way that is equitable to all students. The touchscreen functionality will also give me the freedom to run more digital activities like Nearpod, in which I can more easily interact with students live in a lesson, both with my online and in-person students.
