The empowered learner will leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving, and demonstrating competency in their learning goals. The specific Nevada Academic Standard for 9-12 is E.L.D.1: Successfully use a variety of existing technologies to develop criteria and identify new digital tools and resources from emerging technologies to accomplish a defined task with fluency and ease. Technology in the classroom excites and engages young learners while streamlining the lesson for the teacher. A new and updated laptop will run current software and applications the high school is already using. Students and teachers will be able to communicate and collaborate easier through newer equipment. An updated laptop means less time in the classroom trying to trouble shoot technical issues, and more time focused on the students. The docking station gives the opportunity for multiple uses without taking up more space than needed. It also allows the use of audio to be paired with the Promethean board during a lesson.
