My students were amazed when we were able to have a color printer that they could use right in the classroom. They completed their shataqua posters with confidence, and when they had to present to the general education class, their posters looked great!! Seeing their confidence grow and watching them be proud of their accomplishment reminded me how much these resources can fundamentally change a child's enthusiasm for learning.\r\nThe impact on our daily routine has been immediate and profound. Students no longer need aides to read passages for them, and the pens are very discrete. We recently used the reading pens during our independent literacy block, and it was a breakthrough moment for several of my struggling readers. One specific student, who usually requires reading support and feels frustrated during reading, used the pen to decode a research project on famous people with disabilities and then beamed with pride as he completed the webquest project and then print the pages to show his family. Being able to print his final project in colors made him feel good, giving him a sense of accomplishment I hadn't seen before.\r\nLooking ahead, these tools will be the backbone of our upcoming \"Home Means Nevada\" school wide project. My students are currently researching the history of mining and natural resources, and their next step is to create travel brochures to share with the school community and present to their parents. With the color printer, they can showcase authentic pictures and landmarks, while the reading pens will allow them to access complex informational texts that would otherwise be above their reading level. Your support has truly opened doors for their independence and creativity, and we are so grateful for your investment in our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1638391127456,"projectUrl":"project/independent-reading-success/5913441/","projectTitle":"Independent Reading = Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pazell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8132032"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83096","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":304,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":57,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":46.2,"schoolId":83096,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Incline High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Incline High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/incline-high-school/83096"}
