Today's education requires students to use a variety of sources to help prepare them for the modern workplace. They must synthesize not just what they read, but what they hear and see through a variety of multi-media, and then make connections between all of them. What's more, much of today's assessments that help guide our instruction are gathered via computers and also require audio. This is where headphones play a critical role, and currently our school stays busy passing around the same two or three sets of 10-year-old headphones. A classroom set would go a long way toward allowing my students to learn at their own pace - and not a pace dictated by a schedule for limited resources.
