The leveled library includes books that are focused on grade level science topics so reading and science will be integrated. Students will be able to choose books that interest them and are at their reading level. Students will read these books at school in small skill level appropriate groups and then take them home for more reading practice. After gaining knowledge on a science topic, students will then write about what they know in journals. These journals will be created using the binding machine. Students will learn how to write opinion pieces, informational and narrative pieces about the topics they read about.
