This project has two important goals: to fund Storytime with Mrs. Sanborn, and to help engage the older students in reading. I will be featured on the school's YouTube channel reading stories for the children to experience at home with their parents to promote literacy and family routines centered around reading. For this, I want to be sure to read stories that represent my students. The students need books that highlight their history and culture. The 3rd-5th graders need chapter books! They are behind in their reading skills, because of the pandemic and other factors, and need books they want to read. Children like to read books in which they can see themselves. This collection will be a start.
