The pandemic has created a new and adjusted way of learning. No longer are students accustomed to being seated in a standard chair while they learn. Additionally, small group instruction is an effective way to target students’ specific deficits and needs. The resources in this project will provide students with a positive, comfortable, and focus-oriented (flexible seating helps students’ attentiveness), instructional environment. My focus will be on small reading groups that support the following standards: R.L. K.1, R.L.K.2, R.L.K.3, and R.L.K.4, which are the beginning standards for reading comprehension. These standards on critical and foundational for the rest of the standards and my goal is to build mastery for students within small groups. Focusing on these skills will helps students master beginning reading skills success in kindergarten. Flexible seating that supports student movement in all directions is critical to student development as physical movement both increases well-being and encourages the physical and intellectual maturing process.
