Special education students respond positively to using a variety of tools with different colors. The items ordered will help engage the students. Students practice word sorts and letter sounds using colored pens and papers. Whiteboards allow students to immediately respond and provide easy correction of skills. These students often need a variety of choices and options to continue to be engaged in instructions. Colored markers and writing tools allow students the opportunity to complete work while being engaged. Research supports providing a variety of instructional techniques. By using whiteboards, colored card stock and colored writing utensils, students become actively engaged during instruction. Many of these students have a difficult time staying on task. Therefore, I, as the teacher, try to continually change the type of activity and the manner of instruction for my students. The colored mouse for students continues the choice process.
