Students have been learning in a completely virtual world since the pandemic. Of course this is necessary and these skills will carry over into the real world. However, students also need a hands-on approach to learning. For the past 10 years of my teaching career, my students have created a personal interactive notebook. These notebooks are filled with resources for literacy, writing, and vocabulary. These are essentials for improving writing skills and comprehension. The bonus is that students have fun and are engaged in learning with this hands-on approach. They cut, color, sort, glue, and write; all while learning! This interactive notebook is used on a daily basis as we refer to pages where resources have been added to enhance their learning. The students love them! I have even had students come back years later to show me that they still have their notebook and actually use it in high school.
