I want my students to feel a sense of warmth and relaxation when they walk through my classroom doors. By having a relaxed mind and body, my students are able to focus and critically think on tasks at hand. This project (the beanbag lounger, oversized cushioned chair, and soft lighting lamp) allow for me to implement relaxed minds in my classroom. Students will have the opportunity to sit at a flexible seating arrangement (beanbag or oversized cushioned chair) while completing assignments and listening to instruction in the classroom. My students enjoy learning when the lights are off and blinds are open to let in the natural light, but on rainy cloudy days, we have to turn on the lights and my students do not enjoy this. They believe natural lighting and soft lamps keeps them relaxed and focused on the tasks at hand. I want my students to feel like my classroom is home for them and this can be done by bringing in flexible, comfy seating and soft lights. Students with special needs struggle with anxiety and by providing them with this sense of comfort through this project with tremendously benefit their learning.
