I am planning to try a method for my students to explore learning independently with supervision from me. I want them to see that what they do in the class will impact how they learn the lessons that we discuss. The Montessori Method of teaching is tailored for the Pre-K up to 6th grade, but I have envisioned that there is a possibility to extend it to the 7th grade by using the appropriate materials fit for the lessons that they need based on the standards set by the board of education of the state.
The materials requested in this project will be used to do prepared cards for each topic (printed on the papers and will be laminated here in school). These cards will have a certain topic in them with concise explanations and sample problems as well as exercises.
The cards will be placed in the envelopes and will be labeled accordingly. They will be placed in the classroom so that students have access to them when they need it for the discussion and when they need it for reinforcements.
Other materials will be used for instructional purposes such as the compass and all other materials. Small group discussions may also utilize the materials so that students will have enough time to work on their designated tasks.
