I want these books to have an impact on my students, The Nevada State K-5 Standards Key Ideas and Details Objective 1 states "that students need to read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text." These books support the interest levels of my indigenous student population. I feel that having a library built solely from Native American authors promotes a higher level of interest for my students. I want them to be able to take these books home and read at their leisure. I want them to get excited that they to could potentially be authors or what ever they would like. I feel that Covid has negatively hurt my students desire to learn. It has definitely impacted them and they need something to help excite them to want to learn. This is such a wonderful opportunity to help an at risk population. I am excited at the opportunity to provide a classroom library that K-8 levels would like to read.
