We read for 20 minutes everyday of class and students are expected to read 20 minutes every night as well. Students choose their own books and their book choices are led by their own interests and the requirement to read 40 books in a year and to read several different genres. My students have missed some of the crucial years of literacy learning in English. They have missed the opportunity to read extensively in school and at least 20 minutes every night. I want to give them the opportunity to READ.
