By having literature books and resources, it will support teaching this important standard of RL.5.2: Determine two or more main ideas of a text, and explain how they are supported by key details; summarize the text by getting actual novels in the hands of my students. After spending a year and a half in the virtual world, my students are in need of print sources. They will use these resources with other supplies to create book reports and research topics for essay projects. It is necessary to offer a variety of novels to represent a diverse group of students. I teach both on-level and advanced 7th grade ELA/writing at a charter school. My students were impacted by COVID-19 during the 2020-21 school year with virtual learning. Thankfully, the majority of my students are enjoying a routine of using books, paper, and pencils.
