The students in our Title I school crave hands-on learning. Many of students only get to experience learning tools such as legos and magna tiles while they are at school, learning with their peers. These items are essential to our students getting to construct and engineer numerous STEM projects that we would love to be able to offer them. These tools will greatly assist their understanding and mastery of several of our science and math common core standards throughout the year. First graders are expected to have a knowledge of two & three dimensional shapes by the end of the year; with the support of magna tiles as tools they will literally have them in their hands to visualize and create discourse among one another. Not only will they enjoy the additional tools of Legos and magna tiles, they will be creating and building together with their peers which expands their social and emotional skills. They will be able to engage in STEM projects throughout the year in teams, with partners and individually.
