In order to fulfill several of the Nevada Academic Content Standards for United States History, my students will be researching their own family genealogy and then incorporating that information into what was happening in the United States at the time. This project will help students master SS.9-12.US.4: Evaluate the credibility of a primary and secondary source. And perhaps most importantly, students will also be working on SS.9-12.US.28: Examine how American culture is influenced and shaped by diverse groups and individuals. Through this project, as a class, students will be able to find both similarities and differences between themselves and their classmates. Over the past year, during distance learning, students did not interact with one another and a lot of relationships have suffered. This project will help them rebuild the relationships that were harmed during quarantine and distance learning.
