The ukuleles will make a difference by allowing students to put their knowledge of music theory to work. Students will read and play music, create their own songs, and feel a sense of accomplishment as they improve with practice. The discipline it takes to play the ukulele will no doubt give students a sense of pride as they progress over time. Also, learning to play an instrument will further ensure that our school is a place where kids feel they belong and will serve as a daily reminder that they are part of something important. Playing music together with the percussion instruments will also provide low-stress learning opportunities for all ages and skill levels. The music we create together with the percussion instruments will allow students to develop and demonstrate what they learn about rhythm.
