Avid AE 39 Headsets will allow students to practice speaking and using specialized language of the content areas. Students can gain confidence and share ideas asynchronously with Covid-excluded students working from home. Project Description: The padded over-ear headphones make it possible for teachers to use voice recording for a whole class at one time, eliminating background noise and distractions for each student. We know based on WIDA ACCESS assessment data that many of our students can more easily show understanding by speaking than by writing, and these headsets will allow students to record answers instead of, or in addition to, writing. Students will share verbal thoughts and ideas with students who are excluded and working from home. Even if they are out of class, everyone can hear each other's voices and connect with each other through their audio recording. The whole-class set will be available for all content teachers in the school to check out from the library and use in their lessons, and so will benefit over 700 students. Speaking activities can apply to any NVAC standard, but are essential to the College and Career Readiness Standards 1 and 6 (CCR1, CCR6), which focus on participation in a range of conversations, and adapting speech to a variety of contexts.
