Nation Creation is a year long project that allows students to apply what they have learned this year about history, government , geography, and economics. Students choose a country as their own. Students research the geography, history, culture, religions, architecture, economic system, government system, and environmental issues affecting the nation. Once the students have properly researched their nation, Each class will play a trading game similar to “Risk”. Each month each class participates in a game where they must trade with other nations in class. Students learn about diplomacy in foreign affairs. They also learn how to avoid conflicts and make concessions and trade agreements . This project teaches students how to lead, engage with others, problem-solve, and manage conflicts in order to maintain peace.
