The purpose and goal of this grant is to enable students to experience playing instruments. This addition to our classroom is sure to make learning music come to life even more for our students. These students have a passion for music and I like to encourage their enthusiasm. As of now we have little to nothing as far as musical instruments in the classroom. Even something as simple as some drums and percussion for the classroom would go a long way. I am the music teacher at an urban elementary school. The district (and music department in particular,) suffers from a lack of funding and most children come from families that are considered low income. They absolutely love hands-on musical activities where they can participate, enjoy and learn about music!
