I am asking for some Nevada Academic Content Standards based learning centers to help students fill their social emotional need to connect with their peers while still addressing the standards of education. Because of the year we had last year due to COVID related issues my students really missed out on a complete and comprehensive learning. The gap I see that needs to be filled the most is their comprehension while reading grade level texts. For the most part my students are fluent in reading but lack grade level understanding in comprehension. I would like to present my standards based lesson to the students and then allow them some self discovery time within the learning centers. The resources that I have chosen, like the comprehension kits and sound phones, will be able to be used all year long and addresses the major standards of reading to help them in 2nd grade and beyond. Some of the standards are: RF 2.4, RF 2.4C, RI 2.1, RL 2.1, RL 2.3, RL 2.7, and RL 2.10.
If these standards based centers were to be funded this would give my student another resource to help them become successful in reading for this year and beyond.
