These bicycles and climbing manipulatives will provide a means of targeting the gross motor skills of our special needs students. We encourage learning both inside and outside of our school building. While teaching Nevada Academic Content Standards, Physical Education K.1.1, we work to ensure our students are exposed to a variety of environments. This allows students to practice generalizing their skills and behaviors across multiple settings. Many students in our classroom for special needs children have deficits in gross motor skills that are addressed in their IEP. Having a hand operated bicycle, Riverstones, parachute, and teaching tactile set will help us reach our gross motor goals.
