These materials will make a difference because I have a wide range of learners from fluent readers to beginning readers. I selected differentiated materials in order to help fill the gaps as well as challenge all of my students. I focused on materials that I know I am currently lacking in my classroom that would immediately be put to good use. From reading comprehension journals for my on level and above level readers to phonics journals and touch read activities for my struggling readers. These items will help me meet the needs of my diverse learners. The folktale and fairytale sets will make NVAC standard RL2.2 more fun to learn and the growth mindset journals will help students remember every day that they can learn and catch up even if an effect of the pandemic was that they have gotten behind or has a lot of gaps in their education. I want to focus on a growth mindset to help students have an attitude of perseverance. Some of my students are feeling down on themselves after getting behind during time spent distance learning. I want to make sure they know they can learn and catch up. In addition, I want my students to feel proud of their displayed work, hence the borders for our bulletin board displays, and I want to motivate them and get them excited to learn with markers and stickers that are fun to use. Because students are not permitted to play on the playground equipment due to covid, I selected the toy for each to play with at recess and have fun like kids should during that time of day. Each student would have their own so no risk for spreading germs. It would promote health standards 2.3.4 & 2.6.1.
