MS-PS4-2 Develop and use a model to describe that waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials. My students will use the items as models to see for themselves how waves move through different materials. They will see the waves move through the Slinky and watch the waves go from the tuning fork to water and see the transfer of energy. MS-PS2-3 Ask questions about data to determine the factors that affect the strength of electric and magnetic forces. My students will explore magnetic forces using the magnet wands to move items using same and opposite poles. They will have to figure out how to get their item to move across the table with the magnets having like poles and with their magnets having opposite poles facing each other.
