These books are not necessarily on the top Must Read list for today's middle school students; however, the quality and author's craft demonstrated in the story-telling of this book, "To Kill a Mocking Bird", is exemplary and insightful. As we continue to grow and develop tolerance for one another, understanding and sharing what connects us through our personal experiences, will ultimately transcend color, gender, nationality, and other barriers. First we read, show empathy and kindness, and then allow unity to become a beautiful spark for healing and hope for tomorrow.
